Brain damaged baby case which was one of the first cases to settle by way of Periodic Payments Order. So not a lump sum of £3 million. A smaller lump sum of £700,000 and annual payments for care and equipment for the rest of the Claimant's life.
This was a wonderful award for this particular Claimant because expert evidence on his life expectancy was pessimistic but all concerned with the case felt he would live far longer. It was therefore important to ensure he had proper provision for his realistic life expectancy.
